ALBERTO CASTELLI WILL JOIN KAIROS TEAM AS NEW CEO
CASTELLI WILL INVEST INTO KAIROS WITH A MINORITY STAKE
Milan, 18 November 2020
Kairos, a group operating in the asset management and wealth management industry, announces the hiring of Alberto Castelli as new CEO of Kairos Partners SGR and Kairos Investment Management SpA starting from 1 January 2021. Alberto Castelli, manager with a long experience in the financial services industry, succeeds to Fabrizio Rindi who has contributed to lead the Group towards a new phase of development since September 2019. As already announced, Fabrizio Rindi will take up the position of Kairos Partners SGR Chairman.
Alberto Castelli will also become shareholder of Kairos with a minority stake, as further strengthening of the independent boutique model the Group has regained, after the recent announcement that the founding partner Guido Brera and Kairos long-standing managers Rocco Bove and Massimo Trabattoni will become again shareholder with a joint ownership stake of 30%.
Castelli, 54 years old, leaves Poste Italiane Group’s BancoPosta Fondi Sgr where he has been CEO since 2016, with the aim to consolidate Kairos position as leading player in the asset management industry for its skills in offering innovative products and creating tailored investment solutions according to the needs of private and institutional clients, as well as distribution networks.
All over his long career, Castelli has held leading positions in the asset management industry, including the role of General Manager and Chief Investment Officer for the Alternative Investments department of Capitalia and CEO of Lehman Brothers Asset Management SGR.
He also acquired an important entrepreneurial experience as partner of the independent financial advisory firm Eidos Partners.
Fabrizio Rindi so commented on Castelli’s appointment: “I took on the role of interim Kairos CEO in September 2019 with a great sense of responsibility and the aim of laying the foundations for a new successful phase in the history of this extraordinary Group. After a very strict selection process, we chose Alberto and strongly wanted him to take my baton. We are truly delighted that he accepted to face this challenge. Through his long career and the results he has achieved, particularly in the asset management industry, Alberto has demonstrated that he can rely on the right combination of experience, leadership skills and deep understanding of our business to continue to firmly guide Kairos towards a return to a stable and sustainable growth. I believe that thanks to his vision and determination he will be able to play a key role, together with the ever stronger and more cohesive Kairos managers team, of which I am proud to still belong as next Chairman of the SGR”.
Alberto Castelli, new Kairos CEO, commented: “I am very proud and grateful for the opportunity that Kairos and its shareholders are offering me as new player within an important project that aims to further enhance this boutique characterized by great talents and strong entrepreneurial spirit. With its distinctive offer of investment products and the real independence of its fund managers, Kairos is already strong in its niche positioning. I will actively contribute to the further development of its unique business model which, by integrating asset management with wealth management, puts both private clients and institutional investors and distribution networks at its core”.
Kairos, a Julius Baer Group company with a joint stake of 30% to the founding partner Guido Brera and some other Kairos’ senior managers, was founded in 1999 as an entrepreneurial initiative in the asset management industry sector. With around EUR 5 billion of assets under management and its own offices in Milan, Rome, Turin, and London, it offers a select platform of services and investment solutions for private investors, professional players, and institutional clients.
Kairos is a point of reference both in asset and wealth management. Its asset management activities are characterised by a flexible management methodology, oriented towards performance and risk control, while its wealth management service offers effective responses to financial and asset management needs.
Majority shareholder Julius Baer, the leading Swiss wealth management group and a premium brand in the global wealth management industry, also contributes to enhance the investment boutique business model at European level.
